Founded in 1990, Rugby Indiana was created to expose youth and high school players to the game of rugby and all its benefits. It started with a vision from those innovate leaders that rugby would become embraced not just by adults who were playing the game at that time - but also by youth and high school aged athletes. Now, 30 year later we are looking forward to another 30 years of growth and success in Indiana.

Rugby's global culture embraces Integrity, Passion, Solidarity, Discipline, and Respect. Additional Rugby Indiana values Safety, Sportsmanship, Inclusivity, Fun, and Competition. These are values that are needed in careers, families, school, friends, and more - every day life. The game of rugby facilitates our developing young men and women for life.

For athletes, the sport itself is a great way to increase their physical literacy (skills). Rugby's historical connections to Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, and American Football are well know and those benefits are clear. But, those are not the only sports. Research continues to prove that playing multiple sports prevents burn-out, overuse injuries, and athletes learn skills that can be applied to other sports.

Rugby Indiana Growth:

• Grew from 854 players in the 2009 Spring Season to 1665 players in 2019.
• Girls Grades 7&8 grew from 3 teams in 2014 to 10 teams in 2019, with over 90 girls playing rugby
• Fall Rugby participation grew 35% between 2016 and 2019
• Girls Participation in Fall Rugby grew 61%
• New Teams Joining Us in 2020
